  • Non stick pan
  • Spatula

  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) Full fat milk
  • 1 Tbsp Ghee/ unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup Full fat powdered milk (I used Nido)

  • Put the pan on medium low heat. Pour the milk and the ghee into the pan. Mix and bring it to simmer.
  • Gradually add milk powder, while mixing continuously. It will look granulated in the beginning, but it will gradually smoothen out.
  • Cook on medium low heat for 3 minutes, stirring continuously.
  • When the mava/khoya starts to bind together and looks smooth, turn off heat.
  • Transfer to a bowl and let cool to room temperature. Then crumble with hands to make small pieces.
  • Add to your favorite desserts (like this healthier gajar ka halwa or this almond flour halwa) and enjoy.

The measurements given in this recipe will give 1/2 cup mava/khoya. If you want to make more, you can double or triple the amount of every ingredient. Please note that this might increase the cooking time by 1 or 2 minutes.
