Homemade Mava/Khoya in just 4 minutes

Perfect to be added to your desserts, this mava/khoya is ready in only 4 minutes.
Cook Time 4 minutes
Course: Dessert
Cuisine: Indian

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) Full fat milk
  • 1 Tbsp Ghee/ unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup Full fat powdered milk (I used Nido)

Equipment

  • Non stick pan
  • Spatula

Method

  1. Put the pan on medium low heat. Pour the milk and the ghee into the pan. Mix and bring it to simmer.
  2. Gradually add milk powder, while mixing continuously. It will look granulated in the beginning, but it will gradually smoothen out.
  3. Cook on medium low heat for 3 minutes, stirring continuously.
  4. When the mava/khoya starts to bind together and looks smooth, turn off heat.
  5. Transfer to a bowl and let cool to room temperature. Then crumble with hands to make small pieces.
  6. Add to your favorite desserts (like this healthier gajar ka halwa or this almond flour halwa) and enjoy.

Notes

The measurements given in this recipe will give 1/2 cup mava/khoya. If you want to make more, you can double or triple the amount of every ingredient. Please note that this might increase the cooking time by 1 or 2 minutes.
